India v Pakistan

Toss: India.

15-Apr-2000
Toss: India.
The advance guard of India's cavalry, in the shape of Jadeja, arrived from the Commonwealth Games. He did little good: Pakistan brushed India aside to regain the Sahara Cup. Of Pakistan's top five, only Aamir Sohail scored at less than a run a ball. Shahid Afridi was especially severe on Ganguly's inviting medium-pace -- his five overs cost 62 -- and hit seven fours and six sixes in his hundred, the first in three years at Toronto. Salim Malik passed 7,000 one-day international runs. In reply, Sidhu and Azharuddin put on 78 for the third wicket, but they were always behind the asking-rate.
Man of the Match: Shahid Afridi.
