1990
It was another issue where off-field issues dominated, and one where South Africa's readmission to the international fold was occupying much media attention. But Mike Gatting's rebel tour of South Africa and domestic infighting at Yorkshire, as well as the appointment of David Gower as England captain after Gatting was blackballed, all attracted considerable comment. Viv Richards made his 100th hundred, and Worcestershire won the County Championship after their closest rivals were docked points for producing a substandard pitch. Wright lamented that in the four years he had been writing the Editor's Notes, England had lost every home series. At least that was about to improve.
